Welcome to Baytree, located on both the east and west sides of A1A in Indian River Shores, just north of John's Island. Baytree was the brainchild of Richard Schaub, a local real estate investor, who later developed both The Shores and Grand Harbor. His son, Clemens Schaub, was the architect on the project. Schaub's unique and widely admired architecture at Baytree received the prestigious Design Excellence Award from the NE Florida chapter of the Institute of Architects in 1985. Much has happened since. Now in 2008 Baytree is comprised of 108 residences and extensive amenities, which include four clay tennis courts, 4 swimming pools, a full-time maintenance staff and access control personnel among others.
Baytree has just completed a $10,000,000 renovation program funded in part by the hurricane insurance proceeds and in part by homeowners who wished to take advantage of the reconstruction so as to upgrade their community.
The new Baytree is stunning - hundreds of thousands of dollars of landscape planning, all buildings newly painted, and all roads newly sealed. Baytree has a crisp, smart look coupled with Baytree's classic over-arching tree canopies, rustic paths and woody glens. Schaub developed Baytree to be a quiet, 'get-away from it all', woodsy paradise with extensive open space and paved piazzas.
